Two US service members were killed in Jordan during Iranian strikes as the administration continues its military campaign against Iran.
Two US service members were killed and one remains missing in action following Iranian ballistic missile and drone strikes in Jordan. US Central Command confirmed the fatalities on Saturday, marking the first American military deaths since the conflict resumed in June. Four additional service members were medically evacuated but have since been discharged. The administration announced that these casualties occurred as forces defended against a fresh wave of Iranian fire. The conflict has intensified since the collapse of a fragile ceasefire and memorandum of understanding reached last month. Iran’s supreme leader, Mojtaba Khamenei, described the signature of President Trump on the initial agreement as "worthless and unreliable." While the administration continues to bombard Iranian targets to loosen the country's grip on the Strait of Hormuz, Iran has suspended its commitments to the previous deal. Regional allies, including Kuwait and Qatar, have faced strikes on vital desalination plants. Meanwhile, gas prices in the United States have risen 34% since the war began, reaching an average of $3.992 per gallon.
