Lockheed Martin introduces the Morfius X-Rotor and PAC-3 ACE to provide cost-effective solutions against diverse aerial and drone threats.
Lockheed Martin unveiled two new cost-efficient defense systems at the 2026 Farnborough Airshow to address the rising demand for affordable munitions. The company introduced the Morfius X-Rotor, a ground-launched high-power microwave system designed to neutralize more than 50 enemy drones in a single flight. Randy Crites, vice president and general manager of Lockheed Martin Missiles and Fire Control Advanced Programs, stated that the system sets a new benchmark by delivering a high kill rate while keeping costs low. To further reduce reliance on expensive interceptors, Lockheed Martin also introduced the PAC-3 ACE. This new interceptor is designed to defeat a wide range of air and missile threats for less than half the cost of the PAC-3 MSE per unit. Tim Cahill, president of Lockheed Martin Missiles and Fire Control, noted that the system provides a battle-tested and budget-smart option for allied forces. These innovations aim to provide frontline troops with versatile, reusable, and economical tools to counter evolving threats like Iranian missiles and Shahed drones.
