A woman was killed in a chain reaction collision on the westbound Loop 202 Santan Freeway in Gilbert on Sunday morning. The accident occurred just after 11 a.m. near the Higley Road overpass, less than 5 miles west of Mesa Gateway Airport. According to the Arizona Department of Public Safety, a Volkswagen electric vehicle stopped in the middle lane due to mechanical issues. A Volkswagen Jetta then clipped the stalled vehicle, which was subsequently struck by a Chevrolet pickup truck. The impact killed the woman who was the sole occupant of the Jetta.
