Silvio Napoli leads Lucid Motors through operational reset to secure $1.4 billion in cash savings
Silvio Napoli, the new CEO of Lucid Motors, has initiated a comprehensive "operational reset" to stabilize the electric vehicle manufacturer's finances. The administration announced a plan to identify $1.4 billion in cash flow improvements, targeting reductions in vehicle inventory, capital expenditures, and operating expenses. To achieve these savings, the company has already implemented significant measures, including laying off 18% of its workforce and reducing production at its Arizona factory from two shifts to one. Napoli emphasized that the company will prioritize three key areas: cash and cost, customer and quality, and culture and team. A major component of this strategy involves delaying the launch of the mid-sized electric vehicle, the Cosmos, until the second half of 2027 to ensure it meets all quality requirements. Other "must-win" priorities include the robotaxi program with Uber and Nuro, and the completion of the Saudi Arabian factory. Napoli dismissed rumors of an impending bankruptcy, stating that the company is well-positioned to maintain liquidity through 2027.
