Additionally, Rabbi Mark Wildes of the Manhattan Jewish Experience suggested that Mamdani’s criticisms reflect a broader hostility toward the state of Israel rather than specific policies. While Mamdani has condemned Hamas, his strident stance against Israel has left many Jewish New Yorkers feeling alienated from City Hall. Despite the political friction, Wildes noted that the Jewish community remains resilient and connected to Israel.
