The US military completed a major wave of strikes against Iran on Thursday to retaliate for Tehran targeting American bases in Jordan. These strikes targeted dozens of Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps targets, including military command centers, as fighting intensified in the region. The action followed a period of a days-long pause in violence, during which Donald Trump vowed to hit Iran "very hard" after the initial escalation. Jordan’s military reported that it successfully foiled an Iranian attempt to target the kingdom with five missiles, resulting in no casualties. Meanwhile, the US partnered with Saudi Arabia to strike Iran-backed militias in Iraq on Wednesday, killing at least 20 fighters and other advisers. Despite the escalating attacks around the Gulf, oil prices saw a slight decline. Brent futures fell to $89.78 a barrel, while US West Texas Intermediate crude fell to $83.82 a barrel. The Israeli military also accused Iran-backed Hezbollah of violating a truce in Lebanon by firing a drone at an Israeli vehicle.
