The administration announced that more than 300,000 Haitian immigrants will lose their Temporary Protected Status (TPS) on Monday, following a Supreme Court ruling. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) is preparing to escalate operations to arrest and deport these illegal immigrants, with Ohio being a primary target. Markwayne Mullin, the Department of Homeland Security Secretary, defended the decision to end the designation, stating that those staying under TPS have had sufficient time to find other legal ways to stay in the U.S. The administration argued that the program was intended to be temporary and that continuing the designation against the national interest. While some Republicans, such as Rep. Carlos Gimenez, expressed concern about returning migrants to a crisis-stricken nation, the administration maintained that the U.S. is a generous country that should not be taken advantage of.
