Galanz Americas Limited Company Recalls 121,680 Retro Refrigerators Due to Fire and Burn Hazards
Galanz Americas Limited Company is recalling approximately 121,680 units of Galanz Retro Refrigerators because internal electrical components can short-circuit and ignite. The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission announced the recall on Thursday, identifying a defect that poses a risk of serious injury or death from fire and burn hazards. Federal regulators have received 34 reports of fires involving the refrigerators, including one reported fatality. The recalled units were sold at Home Depot stores nationwide and on Amazon.com between January 2019 and September 2022 for prices ranging from $330 to $530. The refrigerators feature a separate top freezer, three adjustable glass shelves, and a drawer. Consumers are urged to unplug and stop using the recalled refrigerators immediately.
