This move allows the administration to classify the renewed military campaign as a separate entity from the initial conflict, which is necessary to satisfy the War Powers Act of 1973. While some critics, including Republican congressman Thomas Massie, called the shift an "absurd ruse," the Pentagon defended the update as a resolution of "temporary data disruptions." Pentagon spokesman Joel Valdez and Sean Parnell both emphasized that the online database remains a definitive source for transparency regarding the military's progress in the region.
