Boeing CEO Kelly Ortberg says the company will focus on stabilizing current aircraft before launching a new jet by 2030.
Boeing CEO Kelly Ortberg stated that the aerospace company is prioritizing the stabilization of its current aircraft lineup before committing to a new "clean sheet" airplane design. Speaking at the Farnborough International Airshow, Kelly Ortberg explained that the company needs a couple of years to get its financial house in order and ensure existing technology is ready before launching a new program. The company is currently focused on delivering delayed models, such as the 777X and the 737 MAX variants, while improving production reliability. Ortberg noted that airline customers want the company to focus on these current programs before introducing a new jet, which is expected to arrive by 2030. This new aircraft will likely replace the 737 MAX series and compete with Airbus' A320 family. To keep the next generation of Air Force One aircraft on schedule for 2028, the administration announced that Boeing will increase spending and add engineering and production staff.
