President Bola Ahmed Tinubu Welcomes Rescue of 308 Nigerians from Kidnapping Operations
The administration announced that 308 Nigerian citizens were rescued from separate kidnapping attacks in Niger and Kwara states. This coordinated, intelligence-driven operation was the largest single-day rescue mission conducted by Nigeria's joint security team, involving the military, police, and the National Counter-Terrorism Centre. Of the 308 victims, 163 were freed from the Woro community in Kwara State, while 145 were rescued from the Kainji Lake National Park in Niger State. The victims were released following a February attack by Boko Haram-linked fighters that claimed over 200 lives and forced many residents to flee. President Bola Ahmed Tinubu praised the security forces for their bravery and commitment to safeguarding lives. The successful operation demonstrates improved coordination among Nigeria's security agencies. The rescue follows a series of abductions across the country, highlighting the ongoing efforts to combat kidnapping and banditry in rural areas.
