Kim Yo Jong warns North Korea will adopt additional military options to counter Japan's military expansion
Kim Yo Jong, the powerful sister of North Korean leader Kim Jong Un, warned on Wednesday that Pyongyang will adopt "additional military options" to counter Japan's growing military power. This warning follows Japan's recent test-firing of a U.S.-made Tomahawk cruise missile from the Aegis destroyer Chokai. Kim Yo Jong accused Japan of shifting from a defensive posture to a force capable of pre-emptive attacks and overseas operations. She stated that North Korea intends to make Japan "regret" its military moves, which she attributed to support from the United States. Analysts suggest that Pyongyang is using this rhetoric to justify its own weapons development. The statement marks the latest in a series of commentaries from North Korean state media denouncing the joint military activities of the United States, South Korea, and Japan. Experts believe these comments may lay the groundwork for future military demonstrations, such as missile tests or displays of undersea strike capabilities.
