Brad Gerstner says President Trump wants to auto-enroll up to 70 million children into new investment accounts.
Altimeter Capital CEO Brad Gerstner stated that President Trump intends to automatically create investment accounts for up to 70 million children under the age of 18. The initiative, known as Trump Accounts, provides children with early access to the stock market. While the program currently requires parents to opt-in, the administration announced a shift toward auto-enrollment to ensure no child is left behind. Gerstner, who helped spearhead the project, noted that the team aims to use Social Security data to create these accounts over the next 90 days. The program features a $1,000 federal seed deposit for newborns born between 2025 and 2028. IRS CEO Frank Bisignano, who is leading the expansion, expressed confidence that every family could eventually have an account. Researchers suggest that automatic enrollment will improve participation rates, particularly for low-income families, by reducing the administrative burden on parents. To date, 6.5 million children have already signed up for the accounts.
