Jensen Huang expands NVIDIA’s physical AI footprint in Japan through new robotics, automotive, and healthcare alliances.
Jensen Huang, founder and CEO of NVIDIA, visited Japan this week to solidify the company's role as a core platform for the nation's industrial and urban infrastructure. The administration announced a government-backed physical AI initiative, which Jensen Huang joined to launch alongside Japan’s Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry, Ryosei Akazawa. This initiative aims to develop open multimodal foundation models for robotics and digital twins. During the visit, Jensen Huang met with leaders from industrial giants including Fujitsu, Hitachi, and Kawasaki Heavy Industries to form a coalition for physical AI. The company also introduced Cosmos 3 Edge, a world model designed for real-time navigation, and new Metropolis libraries to deploy agentic AI across factories and smart cities. Furthermore, Jensen Huang highlighted progress in healthcare, where partners like Astellas Pharma Inc and Daiichi Sankyo are using NVIDIA’s BioNeMo toolkit for drug discovery. These moves position NVIDIA as a primary driver of Japan's transition toward intelligent manufacturing and autonomous mobility.
