Nvidia Secures $500 Billion Partnership with SK Group to Expand Global AI Infrastructure
Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang and South Korean President Lee Jae Myung met in San Francisco to announce a comprehensive $500 billion partnership with the SK Group. The agreement secures a stable supply of high-bandwidth memory (HBM) for Nvidia's advanced processors, specifically utilizing SK Hynix's HBM4 memory. This collaboration will facilitate the construction of large-scale data centers and AI infrastructure, moving beyond hyperscalers to include massive conglomerates and foreign governments. During the summit, Jensen Huang highlighted the critical role of Korean memory chips in enabling Nvidia's supercomputers. The partnership includes specific initiatives with SK Telecom to build a cloud business using Nvidia's Vera Rubin systems and a $1 billion investment by Nvidia into the Korean cloud company Naver. Additionally, Nvidia established a joint AI research lab with the Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology (KAIST) to advance agentic AI. These developments position South Korea as a key engine in the global AI revolution, moving beyond simple participation to active leadership in semiconductor manufacturing and industrial integration.
