The Ohio Fire has expanded to 880 acres northeast of Hailey, forcing residents in several zones to evacuate. The Blaine County South Fire Protection District reported that the blaze is moving quickly, primarily fueled by dense sagebrush. The Blaine County Sheriff’s Office placed the Indian Creek zone under a Level 3 “GO NOW” status, requiring all homes in the Indian Creek subdivision and Indian Creek Canyon to leave immediately. Residents in the Ohio Gulch, dump, and Wynn’s Compost areas are also under “GO” status. Meanwhile, the Hiawatha and East Fork-Triumph zones are under Level 2 “SET” status, where residents should remain prepared to leave at a moment’s notice. The American Red Cross has opened an evacuation center at Life Church in Hailey to provide water, snacks, and information. Fire crews from five local departments, along with the U.S. Forest Service and Bureau of Land Management, are currently battling the flames. Officials asked the public to avoid the area and refrain from flying drones to ensure fire crews have clear access to the scene.
