Esmaeil Baghaei, the Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman, confirmed on Monday that Tehran has received several proposals through mediators to conclude the current round of fighting with the U.S. These diplomatic efforts coincide with ongoing military actions, as the U.S. completed its ninth consecutive night of strikes against Iranian targets. While the U.S. continues to degrade Iranian military capabilities, Secretary of State Marco Rubio noted that Washington remains open to diplomacy, though he emphasized that recent Iranian missile and drone strikes—which killed three American service members—remain an impediment to negotiations. In response, Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf suggested that Iran is aware of American "games" and expects actions to confirm diplomatic claims. The conflict has caused oil prices to rise as concerns grow over disruptions in the Strait of Hormuz. Amrita Sen, a research director at Energy Aspects, suggested that depleted global inventories and shipping slowdowns could push prices above $100 per barrel. Meanwhile, President Masoud Pezeshkian defended a recently suspended memorandum of understanding, stating that Iran remains committed to its national interests despite current economic pains.
