Austin Police Department Officer David Lewis confirmed that a man was fatally shot early Saturday morning in the 3200 block of Montopolis Drive. Officers responded shortly after midnight following multiple 911 calls reporting shots fired in a common area of an apartment complex. The victim was found with apparent trauma and was pronounced dead at 12:28 a.m. This death marks the 35th homicide of the year for the city. Officer David Lewis stated that the shooting appears to be an isolated incident. Detectives do not believe any suspects remain at large, as everyone involved is currently being interviewed by officers. Police are seeking additional information from the public to assist in the investigation.
