The tech giant argued that it does not possess or want Apple's trade secrets, emphasizing its goal of building innovative products. Apple accused former staffer Chang Liu and former executive Tang Tan of using company-owned devices and bypassing security protocols to access confidential information after leaving the company. OpenAI countered that Chang Liu did nothing wrong and that Apple failed to manage system access for departing employees. Furthermore, OpenAI noted that Apple's outside lawyers initially confused two Asian last names, leading to a preliminary injunction request based on what OpenAI called false information. While Apple seeks a preliminary injunction to prevent OpenAI from disclosing confidential information, OpenAI maintains that it has the evidence to prove its innocence. The legal battle between the two tech leaders is expected to be long and drawn-out.
