Fadi Hamdallah al-Nassan, a 17-year-old Palestinian youth footballer, died from gunshot wounds sustained during an Israeli settler attack in the West Bank.
Fadi Hamdallah al-Nassan, a 17-year-old member of the Palestinian national youth team, died on Saturday following a settler attack in the village of al-Mughayyir. The teenager was shot in the thigh by Israeli forces on July 11 while settlers were attacking the village. His leg was subsequently amputated, and he succumbed to his injuries a week later. Dozens of mourners attended a funeral procession in al-Mughayyir to honor the young athlete, who was well-regarded for his academic and sporting achievements. The Palestine Football Association noted that al-Nassan is one of 568 martyrs from the Palestinian football family since October 7, 2023. The death highlights the escalating violence in the occupied West Bank, where settler activity has intensified. While the Israel Defense Forces noted the shooting occurred during a period of tension involving stone-throwing, Palestinian residents described the village as facing constant pressure from nearby settlement outposts. The funeral served as a somber reminder of the ongoing conflict and the daily challenges faced by Palestinian communities.
