Phil Weiser names Jefferson County Commissioner Lesley Dahlkemper as his running mate for Colorado lieutenant governor
Phil Weiser, the Democratic nominee for Colorado governor, selected Jefferson County Commissioner Lesley Dahlkemper as his running mate for lieutenant governor on Wednesday. The announcement was made during a news conference in Denver, where Weiser highlighted Dahlkemper’s extensive experience in local government and her ability to solve complex problems. Dahlkemper, who has served on the Jefferson County Commission since 2018, was recognized for her work on wildfire risk reduction, water conservation, and the opioid crisis. Weiser noted that Dahlkemper is a seasoned leader who will not require a long learning curve to manage the state's diverse challenges. While Dahlkemper has not yet specified her exact duties within the administration, she expressed readiness to work alongside Weiser to deliver results for Coloradans. Weiser faces Republican nominee Victor Marx in the November election. Marx has yet to announce a running mate, though he is expected to do so by the July 31 deadline.
