Philippine Airlines has signed a memorandum of understanding with Boeing to acquire up to 20 787-10 Dreamliner jets. The agreement includes 15 firm orders and five options, aimed at modernizing the flag carrier's fleet for medium and long-haul flights. The aircraft are expected to be delivered between 2031 and 2034. Lucio C. Tan III, president and chief operating officer of PAL Holdings, stated that the investment reflects confidence in the airline's future and the growth of air travel. The 787-10 variant offers high fuel efficiency and low operating costs per seat, which will help the carrier improve operational efficiency and meet rising travel demand. Stephanie Pope, president and CEO of Boeing Commercial Airplanes, noted that the selection marks a significant step in an 80-year partnership between the two companies. The new jets will complement the airline's existing fleet of 10 777 jets, providing passengers with enhanced comfort and advanced technology.
