Tim Scott addresses complicated funeral arrangements following the death of U.S. Sen. Lindsey Graham.
U.S. Sen. Tim Scott confirmed that planning for the funeral arrangements of the late U.S. Sen. Lindsey Graham is complex due to the expected attendance of numerous world leaders. During a news conference, Tim Scott, who honored his former colleague, said the difficulty in coordinating the National Cathedral’s availability with other national dignitaries made arrangements for the coming week impossible. Graham died at his home in Washington, D.C., after suffering a torn aorta. Following his passing, Governor Henry McMaster appointed Darline Graham to temporarily fill the vacancy. Tim Scott noted that while Darline Graham suggested services the following week might be possible, scheduling remains challenging. Beyond the service, attention has turned to the open U.S. Senate seat. The contest for South Carolina’s next senator begins with a special Republican primary on August 11. While Tim Scott stated he did not have a specific candidate the Republican Senatorial Committee wishes to support, he suggested he might become personally involved in the state’s election.
