More than 10,000 supporters of the Cockroach Janta Party marched toward India’s parliament in New Delhi on Monday, demanding the resignation of Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan and a crackdown on corruption within the national exam system. The youth-led movement, which gained popularity after the Supreme Court chief justice compared unemployed youth to "cockroaches," emerged as a significant challenge to the government of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The demonstration was fueled by public anger over repeated leaks in high-stakes medical and government entrance exams, which forced millions of students to retake tests. During the march, police used tear gas and baton charges to manage the crowd at Jantar Mantar. While the administration announced a move toward dialogue by inviting two activists to meet Health Minister JP Nadda, Dharmendra Pradhan has maintained a firm stance, accusing the protesters of acting against the nation. The movement has drawn widespread support from students, professionals, and opposition parties, highlighting growing public demand for accountability regarding youth unemployment and education reforms.
