Mykhailo Fedorov remains a focal point of public protest following his dismissal as Ukraine's defense minister
Mykhailo Fedorov was dismissed as Ukraine's defense minister during a government reshuffle, sparking a wave of public demonstrations in Kyiv. While the administration announced the move as part of a broader reorganization, Fedorov suggested his ousting was driven by resistance to his reforms, particularly regarding transparent arms procurement. He noted that many influential figures and companies within the defense industry were unhappy with the changes he introduced to the ministry's internal processes. Protesters have gathered in Kyiv to demand that President Volodymyr Zelenskyy reinstate Fedorov, arguing that he should be given more time to complete his vision for the military. Although the administration offered Fedorov a prominent government role focused on technology, he rejected the offer, stating he prefers to remain in the defense portfolio. Despite the dismissal, the administration has already appointed General Mykhailo Drapatyi as the new commander-in-chief, replacing Oleksandr Syrskyi. Fedorov maintains that his communication with the president remains open and that he is committed to pursuing his war plan for Ukraine's victory.
