Lindsay Clancy, a former labor and delivery nurse, is currently on trial for the January 2023 deaths of her three children: Cora, Dawson, and Callan. The 35-year-old defendant, who is paralyzed from the waist down following a botched suicide attempt, faces three counts of murder and strangulation. Jury selection in Plymouth, Mass., has proven emotionally taxing for potential jurors, many of whom were moved to tears while contemplating the murders. Defense attorney Kevin Reddington plans to pursue an insanity plea, arguing that Clancy suffered from severe postpartum psychosis worsened by medication. Conversely, prosecutors contend the mother was lucid enough to methodically plan the day's events. Clancy’s husband, Patrick Clancy, testified that he forgives his wife, describing her not as a monster but as someone who became ill. The trial is expected to last up to eight weeks, featuring testimonies from approximately 200 witnesses to determine if Clancy was criminally responsible for the unthinkable crime.
