Sarbananda Sonowal, India's Shipping Minister, confirmed that all 14 people on board the MSV Faize Noore Oliya were safely rescued after the vessel capsized and sunk following a projectile strike off the coast of Yemen. The Indian-flagged ship was hit by an unknown projectile, though Yemen's transportation ministry accused the Iran-backed Houthi fighters of using an explosive-laden boat to carry out the attack. India's Ministry of External Affairs described the attacks on commercial shipping in the region as "deeply worrisome" and called for the restoration of unimpeded navigation in accordance with international law. The incident occurs during a period of heightened risk in the region, where many ships have diverted to the Red Sea as an alternative waterway since Iran blocked the Strait of Hormuz. Despite the ongoing maritime threats, oil prices fell to a three-week low on Tuesday as US officials expressed optimism regarding a potential deal with Iran to reopen the Strait of Hormuz.
