Cook County State's Attorney will file no charges following the deadly shooting of Malik McCorkle outside a Lincoln Park bar.

Cook County State's Attorney officials announced that no criminal charges will be filed following the death of Malik McCorkle, who was shot in the head on Sunday night. The 30-year-old man was killed during a shootout that erupted after a large crowd spilled out of The Dime, a local bar. While a suspect was initially taken into custody and a gun was recovered, authorities determined that the available evidence was insufficient to support a formal filing. The shooting occurred after a fight inside the establishment forced hundreds of patrons into the street, where several people were seen openly carrying weapons. In response to the incident and years of safety concerns, 43rd Ward Alderman Timmy Knudsen confirmed that the police superintendent issued a rare summary closure order for The Dime. The bar will remain closed for up to six months unless the owners agree to specific security enhancements and restricted operating hours.
