Robert Brovdi, commander of Ukraine’s drone forces, reported that Kyiv has struck 159 vessels since launching a new maritime operation, including 117 in the Sea of Azov. These drone strikes have forced Russia to suspend traffic through the Don-Azov canal and the Kerch Strait, effectively disrupting the Kremlin's primary gateway to the Black Sea. The campaign marks a significant reversal of fortunes for Russia. For years, the Sea of Azov was out of reach for Ukrainian forces, allowing Moscow to use it as a staging ground for attacks and a route for exporting fuel and grain. Now, Ukraine is using drones to target Russia’s "shadow fleet" of oil tankers, aiming to isolate the occupied Crimean Peninsula. The strikes have caused logistics paralysis, leading to fuel and food shortages in Crimea. While Russia claims the attacks are acts of terrorism, Ukraine maintains it is targeting military assets to undermine Russian supply lines. Experts suggest that if the blockade persists, Russia could face billions of dollars in economic losses as grain exports are rerouted.
