Rep. Ralph Norman announced he will run for the South Carolina Senate seat to replace the late Lindsey Graham.
Rep. Ralph Norman of South Carolina announced Saturday that he will run in the special primary election to succeed the late Senator Lindsey Graham. The announcement comes despite the fact that the administration recently offered its "complete and total endorsement" to Darline Graham, the late senator's sister, who was appointed to fill the seat on an interim basis. Norman stated that he will be "laser-focused" on enacting the administration's legislative priorities, specifically the SAVE America Act, which aims to overhaul U.S. elections. He also expressed a commitment to "nuke" the Senate filibuster to allow for more efficient legislation. While Norman acknowledged that President Trump chose to back Darline Graham, he noted that the lack of a personal blessing from the president does not deter his plans to win the seat. The special primary election will be held on August 11. Other potential candidates for the seat include businessman Mark Lynch and Representative Nancy Mace.
