Democratic Representative Jamie Raskin is seeking records from the administration to determine if the late convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein functioned as an unregistered foreign agent. Raskin noted substantial evidence that Epstein advanced the interests of Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Russia, and Israel, while also serving as a consultant for a former Israeli prime minister. The investigation highlights concerns that Epstein influenced the policies of the administration during its first term by advocating for foreign governments without filing mandatory disclosures under the Foreign Agents Registration Act. Raskin suggested that the administration may have systematically attempted to cover up Epstein’s ties to President Trump, noting that officials have frequently met in the White House Situation Room to discuss the matter. While Republicans currently control the House, Raskin’s probe serves as a preview of the inquiries Democrats may pursue if they reclaim the majority. Raskin also criticized U.S. Attorney Jay Clayton for his role in managing the investigation and questioned the administration's intent in appointing Clayton as Director of National Intelligence.
