Midwest Poultry Services has initiated a voluntary recall of 1,589,577 dozen white shell and brown cage-free eggs due to potential salmonella contamination. The administration announced the recall on Wednesday, noting that the affected products were produced at two farms in Texas between June 6 and July 3, 2026. The eggs were distributed to retail and food service customers across six states, including Texas, Oklahoma, Arkansas, Louisiana, New Mexico, and Mississippi. Consumers can find the recalled products at Kroger and Brookshire Grocery stores, as well as various smaller retail outlets. The eggs were sold under several brand names, including Simple Truth, Country Morning, and Sunups. While no illnesses have been reported to date, salmonella can cause serious infections in children, older adults, and individuals with weakened immune systems. Consumers can identify the affected cartons by the codes P-1950 or 0840962 printed on the side. Those who purchased the recalled eggs are urged to avoid consumption and seek a full refund at the original place of purchase.
