Muhammad Arif Anwar reports that rescuers found two more survivors from a passenger boat that sank off the Selayar Islands in Indonesia.

Muhammad Arif Anwar, head of the Makassar Search and Rescue Office, confirmed that a 46-year-old woman and her 24-year-old son were found stranded on Balaloho Island on Sunday. The pair were discovered by fishermen after the passenger boat, KM Nurul Salsa, experienced engine failure and sank on Wednesday. The vessel was carrying 78 passengers and crew when it sank approximately 43 nautical miles from the port. While 50 people were rescued on Thursday and five others—including a 7-year-old girl—were pulled from the water on Saturday, 18 people remain missing. Rescue teams, consisting of over 200 personnel including Indonesian troops and police, have faced harsh weather conditions with waves reaching 3 meters. The search continues using five large ships, a reconnaissance aircraft, and a helicopter. Officials noted that accidents are frequent in the archipelago due to overcrowding and lax safety standards.
