During a news briefing, Robert F. Kennedy Jr. confirmed that extensive forensics have been completed and that the involved companies have implemented a recall. The outbreak, which has affected thousands of people across the country, was linked to iceberg lettuce from Taylor Farms. While critics argued that funding cuts by the administration hampered the investigation, Robert F. Kennedy Jr. defended the government's strategy. He stated that the cuts to the Foodborne Diseases Active Surveillance Network (FoodNet) were intended to eliminate redundant surveillance rather than weaken the system. The administration maintains that surveillance continues in all states.
