Volodymyr Zelenskyy reports heavy Russian missile and drone barrage kills at least 10 civilians in Ukraine
President Volodymyr Zelenskyy reported that a massive Russian offensive launched over 70 missiles and 280 drones at Ukraine, resulting in at least 10 civilian deaths and dozens of injuries. The barrage struck 10 regions, including the capital, Kyiv, where tens of thousands of residents sought shelter in subway stations. The Russian Defense Ministry stated the strikes targeted air bases, arms factories, and logistics facilities. During the onslaught, a Russian Kh-101 cruise missile violated Polish airspace and landed in a rural area, prompting NATO to scramble fighter jets. Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk confirmed the violation, noting that while the missile was not a target, it demonstrated a potential escalation. Zelenskyy highlighted a critical shortage of Western-supplied anti-ballistic missile defenses, appealing for more U.S.-made Patriot interceptors. This follows a recent meeting with President Trump, during which the administration announced a license for Ukraine to manufacture its own Patriot systems. Meanwhile, Ukraine continues to market strikes on Russian infrastructure, including the oil sector and the online retailer Wildberries, to disrupt the Russian war machine.
