Russian ballistic missiles and drones killed one person and wounded 16 others during an overnight attack on Kyiv.

One person was killed and 16 others were wounded during a large-scale Russian missile and drone strike on Kyiv. The Ukrainian air force reported that Russia launched 41 missiles and 125 attack drones overnight, with Ukrainian forces successfully intercepting 108 drones and 18 missiles. President Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated that most of the missiles targeted the capital, causing fires across five districts and damaging residential, office, and industrial sites. Rescue workers pulled several residents from burning buildings, including a private home in the Sviatoshynskyi district. The Russian defense ministry claimed the strikes targeted military-linked sites, such as drone production plants and a postal terminal used for assembling robotic systems. The frequent barrage of ballistic missiles comes as Ukraine faces a shortage of Patriot air defense missiles. President Trump previously stated that he is prepared to grant Ukraine licenses to produce these interceptor missiles to bolster defenses against future Russian attacks.
