Alexander Shuvayev reports that a Ukrainian drone strike on a passenger bus in the Belgorod region killed five civilians.
Alexander Shuvayev, the acting Belgorod region Governor, reported that a Ukrainian drone strike on a passenger bus in the western Belgorod region killed five civilians, including a minor. The attack occurred in the town of Shebekino, which has faced regular bombardment since the start of the full-scale invasion. According to Shuvayev, four women and a boy died from their injuries, while three other passengers were hospitalized in critical condition. The strike is part of a broader escalation in the conflict. While Russia accused Ukraine of a "cynical" and "inhumane" attack, Kyiv has denied the specific allegations regarding the bus. The damage to the region follows a Ukrainian retaliatory strike on Moscow, where more than 400 drones targeted the capital. Additionally, a Ukrainian strike on the Belgorod Reservoir dam has caused water to pour through a damaged spillway, leading to flooding in the Nezhegol River. Both nations continue to trade strikes as the war enters its fourth year.
