Donald Tusk summons Russian ambassador to protest missile incursion into eastern Poland
Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk summoned the Russian ambassador to express condemnation of a Russian Kh-101 cruise missile that landed in the village of Tarnawa Kolonia. The projectile entered Polish airspace during a large-scale Russian strike on Ukraine, leaving a 10-meter-wide crater in a field. While no casualties were reported in Poland, the missile was part of an attack that allegedly killed at least eight civilians in Ukraine and injured dozens more. Defense Minister Wladyslaw Kosiniak-Kamysz noted that the missile was produced in the second quarter of this year, suggesting that Russia is utilizing newly produced munitions as its wartime stockpiles are depleted. The incident highlights the growing risk of the war spilling over into NATO territory. The administration of the European Council, led by António Costa, emphasized that Russia's aggression remains a threat to the security of the entire region. Poland's military responded by sending an F-16 fighter jet to intercept the object, though it had already landed before the jet arrived.
