President Lee Jae Myung and Jensen Huang spearheaded a series of high-stakes negotiations in San Francisco to solidify South Korea's role as a global AI powerhouse. During the summit, the administration announced a comprehensive partnership with SK Group worth over $500 billion to build massive AI infrastructure, including large-scale data centers and high-bandwidth memory (HBM) components. Nvidia also secured a stable supply of HBM memory from SK Hynix, a key move to address the global memory shortage. Additionally, the administration announced a $1 billion investment into Naver to expand its AI factory. Other key collaborations include a joint AI research lab with the Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology (KAIST) and a physical AI strategy with Hyundai Motor Group. These deals formalize a long-term commitment from South Korean tech giants like Samsung Electronics and SK Group to integrate with American technology leaders. The agreements aim to establish a domestic mega-cluster for memory chip manufacturing and AI data centers, ensuring South Korea remains a central engine of the global AI revolution.
