Samsung Electronics achieves record quarterly operating profit driven by robust artificial intelligence demand
Samsung Electronics posted a record-breaking second-quarter operating profit of KRW 89.5 trillion, marking a 1,814% year-on-year increase. The company reported consolidated revenue of KRW 171.5 trillion, also reaching an all-time quarterly high. These results were primarily driven by the Memory Business, which achieved record earnings by proactively addressing AI demand and benefiting from an industry-wide upward trend in prices. Key drivers included the sale of high-bandwidth memory (HBM4) and the shipment of the industry's first HBM4E samples to major customers. The company also noted that while the Device Solutions division saw significant growth, the MX and Networks businesses reported a slight operating loss due to elevated component cost pressures. Looking ahead to the second half of 2026, Samsung Electronics expects continued robust demand for memory centered on servers and the broader adoption of agentic AI. The company plans to maintain its technology leadership by focusing on high-value-added products and expanding its AI infrastructure capacity.
