Ehsan Jahanian reports that the reactor at Iran’s Bushehr nuclear power plant remained operational following recent US military strikes.

Ehsan Jahanian, deputy governor of Bushehr province, confirmed that the reactor at Iran’s Bushehr nuclear power plant continued to operate normally following a wave of US military strikes. While satellite imagery revealed new impact scars within the complex and nearby support facilities, Jahanian clarified that the reactor itself was not damaged. The strikes occurred as part of a broader US military campaign aimed at degrading Iranian military capabilities and preventing attacks on commercial shipping in the Strait of Hormuz. US Central Command reported striking approximately 90 military targets, including air defense systems and missile storage sites, along Iran’s southern coast. Additional strikes hit infrastructure in the Hormozgan province, including the Gariveh bridge and the coastal city of Bandar Abbas. While the Iranian Foreign Ministry described the strikes as "criminal aggression," the US military maintained that the operations were necessary to secure key trade routes. The International Atomic Energy Agency continues to advise that nuclear facilities should ideally avoid becoming targets of armed attacks to ensure regional safety.
