Sausalito City Manager Elaine Forbes was arrested on suspicion of felony burglary less than three weeks after starting her new role.

Sausalito City Manager Elaine Forbes was arrested early Saturday morning on suspicion of felony burglary. The arrest occurred in the 500 block of Humboldt Avenue, a waterfront area near several restaurants and marinas. The arrest comes just two days after the Sausalito City Council placed Forbes on administrative leave. She began her role as city manager on July 1, following a career that included nine years as the executive director at the Port of San Francisco. While authorities have not released specific details regarding the charges, a spokesperson for the family stated that Forbes is currently experiencing a mental health crisis. The spokesperson asked the public to show compassion and patience as the investigation continues. The City of Sausalito noted that because the case is an active investigation by the Marin County Sheriff's Office, the city will refrain from commenting on specific allegations until more information is available.
