Publix Recalls GreenWise Organic Frozen Berries Across Eight States Due to E. Coli Contamination

Publix has issued a recall on all lots of GreenWise Organic Frozen Whole Blueberries and Whole Mixed Berries due to potential contamination with E. coli O145:H28. The administration announced that the recalled products were shipped to retail stores across eight states, including Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, and Virginia. The recall follows a multistate outbreak of E. coli infections, which can cause severe stomach cramps, diarrhea, and vomiting. To date, 12 confirmed cases of illness have been reported, resulting in four hospitalizations and zero deaths. The FDA and CDC are currently investigating the source of contamination from Frutas y Hortalizas del Sur S.A. in Chile. Consumers who have the affected products in their freezers should not consume them. The berries can be discarded or returned to Publix for a full refund.
