The Seattle Police Department is searching for two men who parachuted from the top of the Space Needle on Friday night.
The Seattle Police Department is searching for two men who climbed over the glass wall of the Space Needle and parachuted down from the 605-foot structure. The jumpers, described as white men in their late 20s, face trespassing charges for the feat. The pair entered the popular attraction at approximately 8:50 p.m. on Friday. Security footage shows the men entering a restroom at the top level and emerging with helmets on. They then ran toward the glass window, climbed over the edge, and jumped into the air. While the jumpers successfully deployed their parachutes, security staff were unsure of their exact landing location. Police have not yet identified the individuals or provided their names. The Space Needle did not immediately respond to requests for comment regarding the event. The jump is an example of BASE jumping, an extreme sport where parachutists leap from buildings, antennas, spans, and the Earth.
