Marquez Christopher Pinder and Two Others Charged in Miami-Dade Fraternity Hazing Incidents
Marquez Christopher Pinder, a 29-year-old Secret Service agent, was arrested along with Jared Lamar James and Elijah Delano Dyous in connection with fraternity hazing incidents in Miami-Dade County. The three men face charges of attempted manslaughter, aggravated battery with a deadly weapon, and hazing with a deadly weapon. Investigations by the Miami-Dade State Attorney’s Office, Miami-Dade Sheriff's Office, and Sweetwater Police revealed that the suspects engaged in repeated beatings using canes and paddles over a four-day period in April. The victims were reportedly subjected to prolonged beatings for failing to answer fraternity questions correctly. These incidents resulted in several victims requiring hospitalization for surgeries and injuries including kidney failure. State Attorney Katherine Fernandez Rundle condemned the incidents, noting that while hazing is often viewed as a tradition, it can be dangerous. Marquez Christopher Pinder is currently on administrative leave from the Secret Service while the investigation continues.
