Severe thunderstorms and damaging winds are expected to impact Northeast Ohio, Connecticut, and the Tri-State area on Saturday.

Severe thunderstorms are forecast to move through Northeast Ohio, Connecticut, and the Tri-State area on Saturday afternoon and evening. The Storm Prediction Center has placed Northeast Ohio under an "enhanced" risk of severe weather, with damaging wind gusts of up to 70 mph expected to cause tree damage and power outages. In Connecticut, a "slight" risk of severe storms covers much of the state, while the Tri-State area faces a "slight" risk with a primary threat of straight-line winds and localized flooding. The weather systems are fueled by a surge of tropical moisture and a warm front, which will also help clear remaining wildfire smoke. While tornadoes and large hail are possible, they remain secondary threats to the widespread wind and torrential rain. Conditions are expected to improve by Sunday as a cold front moves through, delivering drier air and comfortable temperatures. Residents are advised to monitor local forecasts as storms may move quickly, potentially causing flash flooding in urban areas and poor-drainage locations.
