The National Weather Service has issued an extreme heat watch from Saturday afternoon through Sunday evening as temperatures climb into the mid-90s. High humidity is expected to push the heat index to "feels like" temperatures between 100 and 105 degrees. Residents are urged to stay hydrated and remain in air-conditioned rooms to avoid heat-related illnesses. While a cold front is expected to arrive on Sunday, it will not provide a significant drop in temperature. Instead, the region will enter a prolonged period of hot weather similar to the conditions seen in early July. The forecast indicates that while the humidity may decrease by Monday, the region will likely see a long string of 90-degree days to finish the month. Northern Minnesota may see thunderstorms and large hail on Friday afternoon, while the Twin Cities remain largely dry through Friday evening.
