Harmeet Dhillon Accuses Mikie Sherrill of Criticizing President Trump's Election Integrity Claims Despite Knowing About New Jersey's Voter Registration Issues
Assistant Attorney General for Civil Rights Harmeet Dhillon criticized New Jersey Governor Mikie Sherrill for labeling President Trump a liar regarding election integrity while her own state faced a major voter registration scandal. The administration announced that more than 35,000 potential noncitizens are currently on New Jersey's voter rolls, a revelation that President Trump highlighted during a recent speech. Dhillon stated that Governor Sherrill was aware of the forthcoming data before criticizing the president. She urged the governor to cooperate with the Department of Justice to clean up the rolls, warning that states refusing to do so could face lawsuits. Dhillon noted that every illegal vote cast by a noncitizen canceled out a valid vote from a New Jersey citizen. Governor Sherrill responded by stating that the administration is attempting to weaponize the issue against political opponents. She indicated that her state is currently conducting an independent investigation to determine the cause of the scandal.
