Frank Barredo reports no injuries after a gunman fires a single shot at the U.S. Consulate in Toronto
Toronto Police Deputy Chief Frank Barredo confirmed that a single gunshot was fired at the U.S. Consulate in Toronto on Monday morning, resulting in no reported injuries. The incident occurred around 4:46 a.m. local time, and a white car without license plates was seen fleeing the scene. Police engaged in a high-speed chase that lasted approximately one hour, though no arrests were made during the pursuit. Barredo noted that the building is heavily fortified, which likely prevented those inside from hearing the shot. A single shell casing and damage to the building's facade were recovered at the scene. Mayor Olivia Chow described the attack as brazen and promised to hold the responsible parties accountable. The shooting marks the second time this year that the consulate has been targeted by gunfire. Investigators are currently working with international law enforcement partners to determine the motive and identify the suspects. Police have also asked the public to remain vigilant as the investigation continues.
