1st Lt. Tyler James Feehan and Pvt. Isabella Gonzales were killed in action during an Iranian ballistic missile and drone attack at Muwaffaq Salti Air Base in Jordan. The Pentagon confirmed the deaths of the two active-duty soldiers, who were supporting a U.S. mission against the Islamic State group. Feehan, a 25-year-old graduate student at Southern Utah University, was stationed at Fort Bragg, North Carolina. Gonzales, 19, was stationed in Ansbach, Germany. The deaths bring the total number of American troops killed in the ongoing war with Iran to 16. To honor the fallen soldiers, the administration launched new airstrikes on Saturday to punish Iran. President Trump said the strikes were conducted in honor of the soldiers and will continue to degrade Iranian military capabilities. While the Pentagon is investigating the incident, U.S. Central Command noted that unidentified remains were found at the site. Southern Utah University will posthumously award Feehan his MBA degree and recognize his service during its Pioneer Legacy Celebration.
